Help! I still can’t find my ballot

We know it’s frustrating when you run into problems voting. Here’s what we recommend you do if you still haven’t found your missing ballot…

1. Search your email — especially your spam/trash folder

Search your email for messages containing “ballot” or “election”. If you registered before mid-September, the email may have been sent around September 20th.

Be sure to check your spam/junk and trash folders. Many voters find their ballots stuck there.

2. Use a federal backup ballot

If you still don’t have your ballot, you are eligible to use the federal backup ballot, also known as the Federal Write-in Absentee Ballot.

3. Check your ballot status online

Even after completing and submitting a federal backup ballot, we recommend checking your ballot status online. This will let you know if your local election official has a record of your registration, ballot request and whether your ballot has already been sent.

Check the Status of Your Ballot.

4. Contact your U.S. election office

Finally, we strongly recommend calling your election office for the fastest response. If calling isn’t an option for you, send them an email.

Find Contact Information for Your Election Office.
